Shoulder arthroplasty company Catalyst OrthoScience has named Miguel Ramirez, MD, as its chief medical officer.

Dr. Ramirez will succeed Steven Goldberg, MD, Catalyst’s founder, effective immediately, according to an April 2 press release.

Dr. Goldberg is stepping down from his role as CMO and his role on Catalyst’s board, but he will remain “actively engaged” in the company, according to the release.

Dr. Ramirez is a practicing orthopedic surgeon, formerly holding leadership positions at Peoria, Ill.-based OSF St. Francis Medical Center and Chicago-based University of Illinois College of Medicine.

He specializes in shoulder biomechanics and implant design, developing implants and surgical techniques, and evaluating the efficacy and safety of emerging orthopedic technologies.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
