Smith+Nephew earns FDA clearance for anatomic shoulder implant

Smith+Nephew has received FDA 501(k) clearance for a stemless anatomic total shoulder for the AETOS Shoulder System.

AETOS Stemless is designed to maximize metaphyseal fixation and stability with an inlay collar, cruciate fins, and porous titanium coating to encourage biological fixation, according to a Dec. 16 news release. 

The stemless implant expands the AETOS Shoulder System, which was introduced last year.
