Dr. DeLuca previously served as the team’s head physician from 1997 to 2018, formerly holding the same role with the Philadelphia Flyers.
The appointment comes after Philadelphia-based Rothman Orthopaedic Institute, who had served as the team’s orthopedic provider since 2004, broke ties with the team, citing future malpractice risks.
Dr. DeLuca formerly worked as an orthopedic surgeon at Rothman but now sees patients at the Livingston (N.J.) Surgery Center.
The team’s current head team physician and chief medical officer is Arsh Dhanota, MD, a sports medicine specialist at Philadelphia-based Penn Medicine.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
