AAOS doles out $100K for musculoskeletal research

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons awarded a total of $100,000 to two groups to fund evidence-based musculoskeletal healthcare research.

Applications were reviewed by members of the organization, its Board of Specialty Societies and the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation and selected based on scientific merit, according to a March 12 AAOS news release. 

Mohan Belthur, MD, who was sponsored by the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America, was granted $27,500 for his research related to clinical support tools for fractures in children, and Joseph King III, MD, sponsored by the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, was awarded $72,500 for his study on the treatment of proximal humerus fractures.
