The CORE Institute's 5-year recap: 11 big moves in orthopedics

The CORE Institute is the largest orthopedic group in the U.S. with more than 200 physicians on its staff. 

Here is what the Phoenix-based group has accomplished in the last five years: 

1. In October, Arizona Neurosurgery and Spine Specialists joined The CORE Institute.

2. In 2021, the orthopedic group teamed up with the Arizona WearTech Center to create a smartphone app to detect falls.

3. The CORE Institute expanded its presence in Michigan, merging with Advanced Foot and Ankle Specialists in Howell and Dexter.

4. The CORE Institute relocated its Gilbert, Ariz., center to a new facility in March 2021. The new facility features 20,000 square feet of extra space as well as a spine center, orthopedic clinic and physical therapy center.

5. The Core Institute strengthened its orthopedic cancer care through a partnership established in October 2020 with Cancer Treatment Centers of America Phoenix.

6. In 2020, The CORE Institute launched a rapid COVID-19 antibody testing program.

7. The CORE Institute began offering orthopedic urgent care services to support COVID-19 relief efforts.

8. West Bloomfield Township, Mich.-based Lakes Ambulatory Surgical Center joined The Core Institute in 2019.

9. In March 2019, The CORE Institute opened a clinic in Scottsdale, Ariz.

10. Five surgeons from The CORE Institute's Novi, Mich.-based location added robotic knee and hip replacements.

11. In February 2019, The CORE Institute opened an orthopedic facility in West Phoenix.
