Less than one month into 2024, Becker's has already reported on four healthcare data breaches that have affected orthopedic and spine patients.
Four practices experiencing data breaches:
1. Oklahoma City-based SSM Health and SSM Health Bone and Joint Hospital notified its patients that they may have been caught in a data breach impacting SSM's business partner Navvis.
2. Greensboro, N.C.-based Southeastern Orthopaedic Specialists experienced a data breach that exposed sensitive consumer information.
3. Wichita-based Kansas Joint and Spine Specialists reported a data breach to its patients that affected 83,869 people's records.
4. Des Moines (Iowa) Orthopaedic Surgeons was hit with a data security incident that affected certain protected health information.
