Smith+Nephew’s shoulder replacement system earns FDA clearance

Smith+Nephew’s Aetos shoulder system earned FDA 510(k) clearance, the devicemaker said June 12.

The system is designed for anatomic and reverse shoulder replacement, according to a news release.  It features the Aetos meta stem which helps stability, bone preservation and maintains patient anatomy.

“This platform is the culmination of years of research and development and represents our commitment to providing healthcare professionals with the best possible technology for their patients,” Smith+Nephew President of Global Orthopedics Brad Cannon said in the release.
