Dr. Michael Wagner operates on former Detroit Tigers world champion

Michael Wagner, DO, a surgeon at Mount Clemens, Mich.-based McLaren Macomb Hospital, performed a left knee replacement on former Detroit Tigers pitcher Denny McLain.

Mr. McLain was the last major league pitcher to ever win 30 games in a season. In 1968, he led the Tigers to a World Series championship.

Five years ago, Mr. McLain had a knee replacement on his right knee, which left him dissatisfied, according to a Feb. 21 press release from Grand Blanc, Mich.-based McLaren Health Care.

Following his left knee replacement with Dr. Wagner in October 2022, Mr. McLain was walking within a day.
