Oxford Performance Materials partners for the development of customized implants

Orthopedic

Oxford Performance Materials has partnered with 3D visualization company Jajal Medical to create customizable orthopedic implants for patients with major bone defects.

The partnership will combine Jajal's digital planning platform with Oxford's 3D printing technology to address the need for highly specified polymer orthopedic implants worldwide.

The combined technology initially will be sent to patients in Ukraine over the coming weeks to address war trauma. In September, Oxford signed a manufacturing contract with a Ukrainian healthcare organization.

"This unique partnership with Jajal Medical creates an end-to-end solution that is unparalleled in today's orthopedic landscape," Scott DeFelice, Oxford's CEO, said in a Dec. 16 press release. "OPM has identified a clear market need for custom critical bone defects in the U.S. and abroad that are not supported — economically or clinically — at this time. By marrying Jajal's design capabilities with OPM's patented material science and 3D printing technology, we will offer solutions that improve clinical outcomes at lower overall cost."
