Here are five recent developments in orthopedic and spine research that Becker's has reported on since Nov. 7:

1. Recent research into the relationship between pain management in orthopedic care and depression has shown that reducing depression may help orthopedic patients with their pain.

2. There are no significant differences in complication rates between outpatient and inpatient cervical disc replacement, according to a study published Nov. 15 in Spine.

3. Mark Stouffer, MD, completed the first case in Tenon Medical's clinical study for the Catamaran sacroiliac joint fusion system.

4. Researchers at New York City-based Weill Cornell Medicine completed eight spinal tumor removals using augmented reality.

5. Zimmer Biomet's mymobility platform for the Apple Watch was found to be effective in helping knee replacement patients recover compared to traditional care, according to one-year data.
