The state of orthopedics in New York: 4 things to know

New York state has been a leader in orthopedic care with top institutions and a strong outpatient presence.

Four things to know:

1. Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City was named the top orthopedic hospital in New York, according to U.S. News & World Report. It was also named the top orthopedic hospital in the world by Newsweek.

2. University of Rochester (N.Y.) and Columbia University Health Sciences (New York City) were among 10 universities that received the most orthopedic funding from the National Institutes of Health in 2021.

3. New York has 87 orthopedic ASCs. That's 4.31 ASCs per capita.

4. The average orthopedic surgeon salary in New York is $543,840 as of Feb. 25, according to salary.com.
