He served patients in Alpena, Mich., for 24 years. His career in orthopedic surgery spanned more than 35 years.
Dr. Cornish plans to remain connected with Midland-based MidMichigan Health in retirement, filling in or consulting on complex cases as needed.
He will also remain involved in orthopedic research. Currently, he’s collaborating on a research paper on the biomechanics of knee replacement.
Dr. Cornish was a “cornerstone” of the orthopedic program at MidMichigan Health, according to Chuck Sherwin, president of MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena.
“Dr. Cornish has done an outstanding job caring for so many members of our community,” Mr. Sherwin told The Alpena News. “We are happy to have him stay on in a new capacity and to continue offering support to our team and patients.”
