James Carson, MD, MPH, is an orthopedic surgeon at Houston-based Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital.

Dr. Carson serves as the Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital's primary orthopedic surgeon. His work has been published in the Journal of Back and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation, Clinical Orthopedics and Related Research and Top Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation.

Dr. Carson's professional memberships include the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, National Medical Association, J. Robert Gladden Orthopaedic Society, Houston Medical Forum and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

Dr. Carson participated in the Operation Walk Maryland mission trip to Peru to perform adult reconstruction. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, skiing, boxing and sporting events.

Dr. Carson earned his medical degree from Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a master's in public health from Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He completed an internship and residency at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. before undergoing fellowship training at the Chicago-based Louis A. Weiss Memorial Hospital.
