Dr. Derek Kelly receives Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America award: 4 things to know

Derek Kelly, MD, received the Special Effort and Excellence Award from the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America at the society's annual meeting between May 9 and May 12 in Austin, Texas.

Here are four things to know.

1. Dr. Kelly is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at Campbell Clinic Orthopaedics in Collierville, Tenn. He specializes in a variety of pediatric orthopedic conditions, including hip dysplasia, fractures and limb deformities, sports injuries, scoliosis and foot deformities.

2. He treats Perthes disease and is the only Tennessee physician to serve as a member of the International Perthes Study Group.

3. POSNA is a nonprofit professional organization with more than 1,400 physicians dedicated to pediatric musculoskeletal care.

4. Three Campbell Clinic surgeons have served as president of POSNA, including Alvin J. Ingram, MD, S. Terry Canale, MD, and James Beaty, MD. This year, Campbell Clinic orthopedic surgeon Jeffrey Sawyer, MD, served as the annual meeting's program chair.
