David Halsey, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Oak Bluffs, Mass.-based Martha’s Vineyard Hospital.
Dr. Halsey is also a professor in the department of orthopedics and rehabilitation at Burlington-based University of Vermont College of Medicine.
In March, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons named Dr. Halsey president of its board of directors. He previously served a two-year term as vice president of AAOS.
Dr. Halsey has been a leader on 15 different AAOS councils and committees, including the board of specialty societies, board of councilors, council on advocacy, and orthopaedic political action committee. He also served as an adviser to CMS and as an officer of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
In 2016, the Vermont Medical Society honored Dr. Halsey with the Physician of the Year Award. He has twice been named Teacher of the Year by the University of Vermont College of Medicine Orthopaedic residency program.
A graduate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Piscataway, Dr. Halsey completed an internship and residency at University of Vermont.
