1. Dr. Perry, an orthopedic surgeon and co-founder of Smart Medical Devices, along with his SMD team developed the drill, which is the first handheld drill in the world.
2. The drill has the capability to measure real-time drilling depth and bone density while simultaneously eliminating drill bit plunge.
3. Dr. Perry practices with the Atlantic Orthopedic Group in Melbourne, Fla. He previously led the orthopedic service at Mammoth Hospital in Mammoth Lakes, Calif., for 10 years.
