3 hospitals adding smart knee replacement in 2023

Three hospitals have added Zimmer Biomet’s smart knee implant, Persona IQ, so far in 2023. The device monitors patient metrics after surgery and shared the data through a wireless connection.

1. Miami-based Mount Sinai Medical Center became the first hospital in south Florida to use Persona IQ. Karim Sabeh, MD, completed the hospital’s first case with it.

2. Jennie Stuart Health in Hopkinsville, Ky. began using Persona IQ, according to a Feb. 1 report. 

3. Kevin Pugh, MD, performed Pikeville (Ky.) Medical Center’s first smart knee replacement.
