1.Missouri Orthopaedic Institute will undergo an expansion in order to accommodate growing patient needs.
2. The four-story expansion began on June 3, 2015 and is expected to be completed by 2017.
3. The overall cost of the expansion is estimated to be approximately $40 million.
4. The expansion of Missouri Orthopaedic Institute will increase clinical space for surgical, inpatient, outpatient and physical therapy services from 114,000 to approximately 200,000 square feet.
5. The fourth floor will be a space designated for orthopedic research.
6. The expansion aligns with MU Health’s mission, which is to offer a platform for superior patient care as well as education and research.
7. The facility will have 12 operating rooms, 42 private inpatient rooms and three additional digital X-ray rooms.
8. A restaurant will also be available for both patients and visitor upon completion.
9. The Missouri Orthopaedic Institute currently houses approximately 400 staff members, including 34 physicians.
10. Physicians at the facility specialize in sports medicine, joint replacement, pediatrics, hip and knee, foot and ankle, shoulder, hand, spine, oncology and trauma care.
