UPMC Pinnacle unveils newest neurosurgery practice, welcomes 3 surgeons

Harrisburg, Pa.-based University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Pinnacle opened a new outpatient neurosurgery practice in Harrisburg, according to the Central Penn Business Journal.

Here’s what you need to know:

1. The new practice is part of UPMC Pinnacle Neurosurgery, which is part of PinnacleHealth Neurosurgery and Neurosciences Institute in Harrisburg.

2. UMPC Pinnacle welcomed three neurosurgeons to run the new practice.

3. Robert Schlegel, MD, has more than 30 years of neurosurgery experience. Board-certified, he eared his medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque and completed his residency at Baltimore-based University of Maryland Medical Center.

4. Chikezie Eseonu, MD, is fellowship trained from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He earned his medical degree from Yale School of Medicine in New Haven Conn., and completed his residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

5. Eva Pamias-Portalatin, MD, is fellowship trained from Jacksonville, Fla.-based Mayo Clinic Hospital. After earning her medical degree from the Universidad de Monterrey in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, she completed her residency at the University of Puerto Rico Medical Science Campus.

6. All three neurosurgeons specialize in neuro-oncology and CyberKnife radiosurgery.

7. While performing surgeries at UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg, the neurosurgeons will offer consultation services at UPMC Pinnacle Community Osteopathic in Lower Paxton Township, Pa., and UPMC Pinnacle West Shore in Hampden Township, Pa.
