September marks drastic decrease in compromised health records: 4 things to know

In September, there was a stark decrease in compromised health records, with that figure dropping from 8.8 million records breached in August to 250,000 breached records last month, according to SC Magazine.

Here are four things to know:

 

1. An average of 25.3 breaches occurred each month in the first half of 2016.

 

2. This number rallied to 39.3 breaches per month in the latter half of this year.

 

3. There were 37 data breaches in September.

 

4. Insider threats and hackers were the culprits behind most of September’s data security incidents.
