Here are seven spine and orthopedic practice openings, additions and affiliations happening in the West that Becker's has reported on since Jan. 29:

Reston-based Virginia Spine Institute rebranded to VSI.

Alfred Bonati, MD, who owns Hudson, Fla.-based Bonati Spine Institute, sued the state of Florida for $500 million alleging his clinic was wrongfully shut down in 2023, ABC Action News reported April 4.

Sarasota Memorial Hospital-Venice (Fla.) opened 34 new inpatient orthopedic suites on April 3, according to an April 3 report from the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.

Carson City-based University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Carson Orthopedics and Sports Medicine is expanding its orthopedic services in the area through the addition of three new providers. 

Middletown, Conn.-based Middlesex Orthopedic & Spine Associates opened a new location in Newington, Conn., the practice said April 1.

Bettendorf, Iowa-based ORA Orthopedics plans to build a $50 million facility in the same city.

Teaneck, N.J.-based Holy Name Medical Center added North Jersey Orthopaedic Specialists, which is based in the same city.

Golden Valley, Minn.-based Twin Cities Orthopedics is one of the largest orthopedic groups in the U.S. and it has its eye on further expansion.
