OrthoCarolina’s Dr. David O’Brien moderates cadaver course in China — 5 notes

Winston-Salem, N.C.-based OrthoCarolina’s David O’Brien, MD, made his way to China to serve as a moderator for a cadaver spinal injection course in Shanghai.

Here are five notes:

 

1. Dr. O’Brien traveled to China on behalf of the North American Spine Society.

 

2. He helped teach the course in conjunction with the Chinese Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

 

3. Thousands of orthopedic surgeons viewed the day-long cadaver course via broadcast, delivered in both Mandarin Chinese and English.

 

4. Dr. O’Brien also attended the 9th Annual Congress of the Chinese Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons, while in China. The meeting attracted about 8,000 attendees from the United States, Europe, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China.

 

5. During the meeting, Dr. O’Brien interviewed Chinese surgeons interested in U.S. spine fellowships as well as delivered presentations.
