North Carolina hospital is 1st in region to implement Mazor X: 3 notes

Hendersonville, N.C-based Park Ridge Health is the first hospital within its region to implement the Mazor X Robotic Guidance Platform in its spine center.

Here are three things to know:

1. Designed to assist minimally invasive surgeries, Mazor X creates a 3D comprehensive surgical plan and patient analytics before the surgeon operates.

2. Orthopedic surgeon and medical director of the hospital’s orthopedic program and Total Spine Center Stephen David, MD, was the first surgeon to perform robotic spine surgery in Park Ridge Health’s region.

3. Dr. David used Mazor X during 48-year-old Wendi Phillips’ spine surgery, which took approximately two and a half hours, according to WLOS News. A traditional spine surgery can take up to three hours or longer.
