McLaren to acquire Ohio hospital, bolster services with new spine and orthopedic center

Grand Blanc, Mich.-based McLaren Healthcare is planning to buy St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee, Ohio, and develop a new orthopedic, spine and neuro facility.

McLaren signed a letter of intent Dec. 4 to acquire St. Luke’s, which will be its first hospital outside of Michigan.

The 14-hospital health system also plans to upgrade St. Luke’s ICU and surgical suites and build a new cancer center.

The deal is pending approval from both organizations as well as state regulators and is expected to close by mid-2020. 

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
