Massachusetts General Hospital and Healthwise create investigative program — 5 insights

Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital partnered with Boise, Idaho-based Healthwise to create the Informed Medical Decisions Program.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. The IMDP was established with a $2 million, three-year grant from Healthwise to inform and amplify patients’ voices in healthcare decisions.

 

2. The program will research how to prove the value of tools and solutions for patient engagement, extend the practice of measuring decision quality and assess the best ways to ensure people remain informed and involved in their health and healthcare.

 

3. Healthwise Chief Science Officer and President of the Informed Medical Decisions Foundation Michael J. Barry, MD, will direct the IMDP.

 

4. The IMDP will operate within Massachusetts General Hospital’s Health Decisions Sciences Center.

 

5. Healthwise strives to help patients make better decisions about their health.
