1. The emojis include female physicians, engineers, plumbers and farmers, among others.
2. With female leaders emerging across all industries, Google felt it was time for emojis to show the key roles women play in all professions.
3. Women under 30 are the most frequent emoji users and more users are demanding diversity in emojis. The 2015 Emoji Report found 78 percent of frequent users are women.
4. Jeremy Burge, founder of Emojipedia and World Emoji Day, commended Google’s proposal and said the company could implement the proposal relatively quickly.
5. Google chose to target women in professional roles based on labor data and growing interest in gender equality in science, technology, engineering and math.
