Hackensack breaks ground on $714M expansion featuring 50-bed orthopedic center

Hackensack (N.J.) University Medical Center broke ground last week on a $714 project that will establish a 50-bed orthopedic center, reports Connect New York.

Three things to know:

1. The 530,000-square-foot facility will also include a 50-bed ICU, 150 surgery beds and 24 ORs featuring an intraoperative MRI.

2. The expansion is set for completion in 2022.

3. HUMC was founded in 1888 with 12 beds and has grown into a 781-bed hospital with over 8,000 staff members.
