American Well appoints Dr. Mark McClellan vice chairman of advisory board — 5 notes

American Well, a Boston-based telehealth technology and services company, welcomed Mark McClellan, MD, PhD, to its advisory board.

1. Dr. McClellan will be the vice chairman of the board.

 

2. He is the director of Duke University’s Health Policy Center in Durham, N.C., as well as the former CMS administrator and FDA commissioner.

 

3. The advisory board guides American Well on corporate development initiatives, like telehealth permissibility and telehealth emerging use cases, as well as seeks new market opportunities.

 

4. Dr. McClellan completed his internal medicine residency at Boston-based Brigham and Woman’s Hospital.
