7 steps physicians have taken to boost practice revenue

Most physicians have increased the number of patients seen per day to boost revenue at their practice, according to Physicians Practice’s 2014 Physician Compensation Survey.

The survey includes responses from 1,338 physicians.

 

When asked what steps they are taking to increase boost revenue at their practice, respondents reported:

 

•    Increased the number of patients seen per day — 33.3 percent
•    Taken on work outside of my practice — 29.2 percent
•    Added ancillary services — 23.2 percent
•    Changed to a direct-pay, concierge or hybrid concierge practice — 8.6 percent
•    Started an in-house dispensary — 5.3 percent
•    Started charging for patient portal or e-visits — 4.1 percent
•    Started making fee-based house calls — 2.6 percent
