Becker's reported on five health systems and practices with orthopedic expansion plans since Nov. 21.
1. Prisma Health is expanding its orthopedic services in Laurens, S.C., establishing freestanding offices for its orthopedics practice and outpatient therapies through part of a $2 million expansion project. Prisma Health Orthopedics-Laurens will move from its current 2,261-square-foot location in a medical office building on the hospital campus to a 7,332-square-foot building previously owned by Palmetto Bone and Joint. The move is expected to happen early this year.
2. Tupelo, Miss.-based Specialty Orthopedic Group announced a $30 million expansion project at its Oxford and Starkville, Miss., locations. Following the expansion, the system will have more than 20 surgeons and more than 300 employees. It is expected to be completed in 2025.
3. Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Erlanger Orthopaedics opened a new location to accommodate growth. Erlanger Orthopaedics’ new office space is located inside Erlanger East Hospital. This is the practice's second orthopedic-focused clinic space in the area.
4. Oxford (Miss.) Surgery Center completed a 4,620-square-foot expansion in partnership with Oxford Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine. The expansion will increase OSC's footprint by 30% and bring its square footage to 19,280. It will add three surgical suites.
5. Geisinger finished a $12 million expansion project at its facility in Port Matilda, Pa. The 20,000-square-foot expansion aims to reduce patient wait times and provide additional employment opportunities for physicians and other staff members.
