Here’s what you need to know.

1. The clinic confirmed it suffered an unauthorized intrusion into its network, potentially compromising an unidentified amount of patient records.

2. Patient names, home addresses, email addresses, dates of birth, treatment codes, prescription records and social security numbers could have been taken. A majority of the records are for patients from before July 2014, but “a small number” of cases from after July 2014 may also be affected.

3. The clinic confirmed the breach on Sept. 22, and is working with the FBI to address the situation.

4. The clinic reached out to the affected patients through a letter, and is offering a free year of identity protection services.

5. The investigation is ongoing.

“Patient care is at the center of our mission and we take seriously the confidentiality of the information we hold. Our investigation is in its early stages, but we felt it was important to communicate what we know at this time,” said Mike Butler, CEO. “We regret any anxiety or frustration that this causes our patients and are committed to supporting them.”
