Ambulatory surgery centers are now able to bring spine procedures — including spinal fusions — into the outpatient setting. However, some ASCs are having a hard time finding payors who will reimburse for those procedures.

University Survey has collected feedback on EHR experiences for 1,000 specialists providing ambulatory care and published their results in the 2012 EHR Assessment for Ambulatory Specialists.

Overall reimbursements for ambulatory surgery centers may be dropping, but through a combination of effective business management and savvy contract negotiations, ASCs can still make money in the upcoming year.
