2. The researchers took OA-MSCs from 61 male patients and 69 female patients undergoing total knee replacement surgery to generate multiple cell lines.
3. The study authors found that two mesenchymal stem cell populations exist in human OA cartilage. The findings suggest it may be beneficial to inhibit the activation of OA cartilage-derived stem cells as a way to prevent OA progression.
