Neurosurgeon brings expertise to cannabis company as CMO — 5 insights

Fort Collins, Colo.-based bioavailable cannabis solutions company, Geocann, hired Anthony Petraglia, MD, as CMO, and chairman of the Scientific and Medical Advisory Board.

1. Dr. Petraglia specializes in spine and brain surgery, with added experience in sports-related injuries.

2. Geocann created the CMO role to provide medical leadership in an industry which is still relatively new.

3. Dr. Petraglia will provide his experience in the clinical study design, review of the latest cannabis developments and how they relate to pain, sleep, anxiety and other conditions.

4. He is a neurosurgeon at Rochester Regional Health In New York and the acting executive director of the hospital’s concussion program.

5. Dr. Petraglia is a participating member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons and co-authored the Handbook of Neurological Sports Medicine: Concussion and Other Nervous System Injuries in the Athlete.

Geocann focuses on fusing clinically researched cannabinoids with innovative technology to improve therapeutic performance.
