Emory physician leading osteoarthritis stem cell study

Atlanta-based Emory Orthopedics & Spine Center’s Ken Mautner, MD, is studying how three different stem cell therapies treat osteoarthritis, local news affiliate Fox 5 reports.

Dr. Mautner will study 500 patients over two years. Dr. Mautner believes his study is one of the largest-ever stem cell studies.

“We’re trying to do the right thing. We are trying to move the field forward as well as help patients feel better,” he told Fox 5.
