The FDA has cleared OrthoPediatrics’ Pediatric Nailing Platform Femur Retrograde Nail System, and the company has completed its first procedures using the device.
The system is designed for pediatric patients and includes anatomic nails for treating trauma and straight nails for correcting deformities, according to an Oct. 27 news release.
The device builds on OrthoPediatrics’ existing femoral and tibial nailing systems and uses instrumentation from the company’s Pediatric Nailing Platform, which has supported nearly 15,000 patients worldwide.
The new system offers nail diameters ranging from 7 mm to 11 mm and includes instruments intended to help simplify complex varus/valgus and coronal/sagittal plane corrections.
OrthoPediatrics plans a limited market release through the remainder of 2026, followed by broader commercialization in 2027.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
