Shoulder Innovations has settled its patent lawsuit against Catalyst OrthoScience, the companies announced in separate news releases.
Shoulder Innovations filed the suit in February 2024 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. It claimed Catalyst’s Archer R1 Reverse Shoulder System copied patented technology used in Shoulder Innovations’ reverse shoulder implants. The terms of the settlement are confidential.
“We are pleased to have reached a resolution with Catalyst that provides an agreeable solution to this patent dispute,” Rob Ball, CEO of Shoulder Innovations, said in a Sept. 8 news release.
“Intellectual property is an important foundation for continued innovation, and we respect its role in advancing our industry,” Carl O’Connell, president and CEO of Catalyst, said.
Catalyst said the agreement resolves all pending patent litigation and the dispute in its entirety in a Sept. 9 news release.
The settlement ends a legal dispute that lasted more than two years.
