Steven Choung, MD, performed surgery on Orlando City SC midfielder Braian Ojeda to repair a Jones fracture in the fifth metatarsal of his right foot.

The procedure took place at Orlando (Fla.) Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute in Orlando, according to an Aug. 6 news release from the team.

The institute previously treated another Orlando City player for a foot injury. Robin Jansson underwent surgery in which Dr. Choung inserted a stabilizing screw into his navicular bone. His medical team also included Justin Mullner, MD, the head primary care sports physician for Orlando City Soccer Club, and Craig Mintzer, MD, the orthopedic institute’s chief medical officer.

Mr. Ojeda is expected to return to play this fall.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
