Orthopedic medtech company Advita Ortho has acquired three novel intellectual property applications from Bauer Innovations for shoulder arthroplasty technologies.
The patent applications and technologies will expand Advita Ortho’s Equinoxe Shoulder System portfolio by treating patients with glenoid bone loss using reverse total shoulder arthroplasty, according to a July 27 news release from the company.
Advita Ortho plans to design new reverse shoulder glenoid baseplates for orthopedic surgeons to use during revision shoulder arthroplasty procedures to improve glenoid fixation in patients with central vault defects and uncontained glenoid defects.
“This investment facilitates development of a revision rTSA glenoid baseplate that will be able to address practically any size or shape glenoid defect, using an off-the-shelf component,” Chris Roche, senior vice president of extremities at Advita Ortho, said in the release.
