St. Cloud, Minn.-based CentraCare will open a $194 million expansion at its Plaza campus June 29, adding more than 225,000 square feet of clinical space, according to a June 9 West Central Tribune report.
The expansion adds space for orthopedics, sports medicine and orthopedic urgent care. The orthopedic department also includes dedicated X-ray suites for in-clinic imaging rather than routing patients to a separate department, plus a casting room with six patient bays.
The project more than doubles the surgery center’s capacity, from four to 10 operating rooms. The six new rooms feature integrated monitors and hybrid capabilities that allow imaging, including X-rays, during procedures.
CentraCare also added an on-site sterile processing department for surgical instruments, replacing a workflow that previously relied on nearby St. Cloud Hospital. The three-story expansion will house neurology, pain management, rehabilitation and other outpatient services. Construction began in 2024.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
