Charleston-based Medical University of South Carolina Children’s Health has introduced EOS imaging at the R. Keith Summey Medical Pavilion to reduce radiation exposure and speed imaging for pediatric patients.

The system captures full-body, upright images from the front and side at the same time, supporting care for children with spinal conditions such as scoliosis, as well as neurological and lower-extremity disorders, according to a March 10 news release.

The technology also allows for alignment-based imaging and reduces the need for repeat scans and repositioning, which can shorten appointment times for patients who require frequent imaging.

It is expected to be used for patients with conditions including cerebral palsy, growth differences, angular deformities and hip disorders.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
