Court Upholds Wright Medical’s Knee Implant Patent Against Stryker’s Challenge

The federal court in New Jersey has upheld Wright Medical Technology’s patent on its Advance knee implants in a patent infringement case brought by Stryker’s Howmedica Osteonics subsidiary, according to an 8-K filing by Wright Medical.

Stryker has the right to appeal the court’s summary judgment decision to the U.S. Court of Appeals.

Howmedica started the lengthy legal battle in 2000, claiming that the Advance knee implants infringed on an existing Howmedica patent.
