Carlsmed filed a patent infringement lawsuit against DeGen Medical on Sept. 15, claiming DeGen is infringing eight Carlsmed patents relating to implants, methods and systems, according to court documents reviewed by Becker’s.
Carlsmed is seeking injunctive relief and damages for infringement. The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina, Florence Division.
“We are committed to protecting the intellectual property that supports our patient-centric innovation, which remains at the forefront of the industry,” Carlsmed, Chairman and CEO Mike Cordonnier said in a Sept. 15 news release from the company.
DeGen Medical disputed the allegations.
“We strongly disagree with Carlsmed’s allegations and intend to vigorously defend our technology and intellectual property,” DeGen Medical CEO Craig Black said in a Sept. 16 statement to Becker’s.
