Spark Spine earned a Notice of Allowance from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for its proprietary spinal implant architectures, according to a Jan. 22 news release.

The claims cover key aspects of Spark Spine’s EMP implants, which are designed to generate small electric signals in response to biomechanical forces through the company’s proprietary designs. Formal patents are expected to be issued in the coming months.

“These claims are the bedrock of our portfolio,” Spark Spine President Kevin Chappuis, said in the release. “With this allowance, we will continue to drive the next phase of our growth and develop our transformative solutions for surgeons and patients worldwide.”
