UConn Health’s Neurosurgery and Orthopedic Spine in Farmington, Conn., earned Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Blue Distinction Center+ for spine surgery, according to a Dec. 11 news release.

Designation is based on evaluations for quality and outcomes, along with data submitted through the American Spine Registry.

“Our Comprehensive Spine Center was founded by Hilary Onyiuke, MD, and today is a model center of multidisciplinary care that optimizes patient outcomes and transforms future care of our patients,” neurosurgery chair Ketan Bulsara, MD, said in the release. “This recognition highlights the value of that collaboration.”

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
