Smith & Nephew Wins Defense Contract to Create Fracture Putty for Battlefield

Smith & Nephew Orthopaedics has been awarded a U.S. Department of Defense technology development contract to develop a fracture putty to enhance healing of battlefield wounds, according to a release from Smith & Nephew.

For serious wounds from weapons like improvised explosive devices, the putty would resorb, or dissolve over time, leaving natural healthy bone in its place.
