Arkansas orthopedic clinic founder dies at 85

Orthopedic surgeon and practice founder Don Vowell, MD, has died at 85, according to a May 6 report from the Sentinel-Record.

Dr. Vowell, originally from Jonesboro, Ark., died in Hot Springs, Ark., on April 25. He completed his orthopedic residency at UAMS before establishing the first orthopedic surgical practice in northwest Arkansas in Harrison. 

Later in his career, he partnered with fellow orthopedic surgeon Charles Ledbetter, MD, to found Ozark Orthopedics Associates in Fayetteville, Ark.
