California Bill Prohibits Physician-Owned Distributorships in Workers’ Compensation Cases

A new California bill, which went into effect on Jan. 1, expands the existing state law that prohibits physicians from self referring patients for workers’ compensation cases to include physician-owned distributorships, according to a Hogan Lovells news report.

The bill prohibits physicians who treat workers’ compensation cases from owning a POD. This reverses a previous law allowing PODs among workers’ compensation cases.
