VB Spine has agreed to acquire the exclusive rights to Augmedics’ CT-Fluoro technology for spine applications, expanding its augmented reality navigation portfolio.

The acquisition follows VB Spine’s April purchase of the exclusive rights to the Augmedics xvision spine system platform, according to a July 7 news release. CT-Fluoro technology allows surgeons to register a patient’s preoperative CT scan using standard fluoroscopic imaging, which may eliminate the need for intraoperative CT or 3D imaging during spine procedures.

VB Spine plans to offer the technology as part of its spine surgery portfolio after the transaction closes. The deal remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, and financial terms were not disclosed.

The technology is intended to expand workflow flexibility and increase access to augmented reality navigation across a wider range of surgical settings, according to the release.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
