DePuy Orthopaedics Receives Premarket Approval for AOX Antioxidant Polyethylene Material

DePuy Orthopaedics has received FDA premarket approval to use its new AOX Antioxidant Polyethylene material with its SIGMA Rotating Platform Knee System and LCS COMPLETE Mobile Bearing Knee System, according to a company news release.

The new rotating platform and mobile bearing knee systems with the use of antioxidant polyethylene are designed for more wear resistance and long-term oxidative stability. The knee implants include AOX Polyethylene that uses a new antioxidant that stabilizes free radicals without affecting the mechanical properties or strength of the polyethylene.
